Barcelona have rewarded Raphinha's outstanding performances with a new contract that will keep him at the club until 2030. The Brazilian international's previous agreement was scheduled to expire in 2028, but the Spanish champions moved quickly to secure his future following his impressive start to the new campaign. At 29, Raphinha has become one of Barcelona's most important players, particularly after successfully adapting to a new attacking role under manager Hansi Flick.

Since joining Barcelona from Leeds United in 2022, Raphinha has developed into a key figure in the team's attacking setup. Initially recruited as a right winger, he produced his strongest performances on the left flank, scoring 34 goals in 57 appearances during the 2024-25 season and another 21 in 33 matches the following campaign. His consistency, creativity and attacking instincts have made him an essential part of Flick's tactical plans.

Raphinha's latest transformation came during preseason when Barcelona faced uncertainty over their centre-forward options following the departures of Robert Lewandowski and Ferran Torres. After failing to secure their preferred attacking targets, the club turned to Raphinha as a solution through the middle. Rather than returning to his familiar position on the left wing, the Brazilian embraced the challenge of becoming the team's new No. 9, demonstrating his versatility and willingness to adapt for the benefit of the squad.

The decision has produced remarkable results, with Raphinha scoring 19 goals in just 13 appearances across all competitions this year. He has found the net consistently, including consecutive hat tricks against Racing Santander and Sevilla, before suffering an injury while representing Brazil. After returning to the starting lineup, he continued his impressive form with goals against Real Madrid and braces against Alavés and Aston Villa. His contribution has been particularly important in Barcelona's recent 3-0 Champions League victory over Villa.

Raphinha's goals have played a major role in Barcelona's strong start to the campaign, with the team recording 13 victories from their opening 15 matches. His ability to perform in different attacking positions has given Flick greater tactical flexibility while strengthening the club's long-term plans. With his future now secured until 2030, Barcelona can count on one of their most influential players as they pursue domestic and European success. The contract extension also reflects the club's confidence in Raphinha's continued development as a central figure in their project.
