Ole Romeny will miss Indonesia's November 2026 FIFA international window after suffering another setback with his ankle injury. The Fortuna Sittard striker has seen the problem worsen following his recent return to action, ruling him out of the national team's planned friendly against Jordan. Despite the disappointment, there is some optimism surrounding his recovery, with a potential return before the 2027 AFC Asian Cup still considered possible.
The latest update on Romeny's condition was shared by Noor Korompot through an Instagram post on Sunday, November 1, 2026. According to the information available, the 25-year-old is not expected to face an excessively lengthy recovery period, although he will need to complete rehabilitation before returning to competitive football. His absence is therefore a setback for Indonesia, particularly as the coaching staff prepares for upcoming international fixtures.
Romeny's latest injury occurred after he returned to action for Fortuna Sittard against Excelsior on October 25. He had previously missed matches against FC Twente and NEC Nijmegen while recovering from an earlier ankle problem sustained during Indonesia's FIFA ASEAN Cup 2026 campaign. Introduced at half-time, Romeny managed to play 45 minutes as Fortuna secured a 1-0 victory, but his comeback ultimately proved short-lived.
Although he did not score against Excelsior, Romeny played a part in the winning goal. His effort was saved by the opposition goalkeeper, resulting in a corner that Rodrigo Guth converted with a header. However, three days after the match, the Indonesian international revealed that his ankle injury was more serious than initially expected, forcing him to focus on another period of recovery.
Romeny's availability for the 2027 AFC Asian Cup, scheduled for January and February, will depend on how well his rehabilitation progresses over the coming months. His return would be a significant boost for Indonesia, given his contribution at international level. This season, he has made six Eredivisie appearances and scored once for Fortuna Sittard, while his record for the Indonesian national team stands at seven goals in 14 appearances. For now, his priority remains recovering fully and avoiding further setbacks.
