Rizky Ridho has proven his value to Persija Jakarta by embracing a more flexible tactical role during the 2026/2027 Super League season. The Indonesian national team defender, who also serves as the club captain, is no longer limited to his usual defensive duties. Under head coach Shin Tae-yong, he has been given greater freedom to operate in midfield and contribute to the team's attacking play.

His versatility was on full display when Persija Jakarta claimed a dramatic victory over Persik Kediri at Jakarta International Stadium on October 26, 2026. Persija initially fell behind after Imanol Garcia found the net, but the home side fought back through Denis Kolinger before Ridho scored the decisive goal in the 66th minute. His performance highlighted his growing influence beyond the defensive line.

The tactical adjustment reflects Shin Tae-yong's decision to move away from a three-defender system and adopt a formation featuring four players at the back. This change has allowed Ridho to move forward more frequently, support ball circulation, and help launch attacks from deeper positions. His ability to adapt to different responsibilities has provided Persija with greater tactical flexibility throughout matches.

Shin Tae-yong has placed considerable trust in Ridho because of his technical ability, versatility, and understanding of defensive responsibilities. The coach values his capacity to perform effectively in multiple positions, allowing the team to adjust its approach according to different match situations. This confidence has made Ridho an increasingly important figure in Persija's evolving tactical system.

Ridho has responded to the challenge with a strong commitment to the team's objectives. He has also taken the initiative to study how European midfielders approach the game to improve his understanding of the position. His willingness to learn and adapt, combined with his decisive contribution against Persik Kediri, could prove crucial as Persija pursue consistent results and a strong position in the 2026/2027 Super League standings.
