According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Inter Milan are aiming to maintain consistency in both Serie A and the Champions League. Fiorentina, Venezia, the Milan derby and Como will be key milestones.
According to the report, Cristian Chivu’s Inter Milan are preparing for a particularly important period of the season. Having regained confidence and stability, the Nerazzurri hope to use their upcoming fixtures to close the gap on their direct rivals and strengthen their title ambitions in both Serie A and the Champions League.
The fixture list presents Inter with an opportunity they cannot afford to miss. The next four league matches, particularly the direct clashes involving their main title rivals, could prove decisive in shaping the standings. Chivu’s objective is clear: turn the progress made in recent weeks into tangible results and avoid the inconsistent spells that have affected the team at certain stages of the season.
The first test comes tomorrow against Fiorentina, followed by an away trip to Venezia on Wednesday. Inter will then face AC Milan in the Derby della Madonnina. The Nerazzurri are hoping to collect as many points as possible from these three matches, ideally winning all of them, while potentially pulling away from Lazio, who remain close behind.
Chivu understands how important it is to avoid dropping points during this crucial period. Inter have already demonstrated that they can compete at the highest level, but maintaining a consistent challenge for the title will require greater efficiency and better control of decisive moments in matches.
The Milan derby will be a major test of the maturity of Chivu’s side. The significance of the opposition is one factor, but Inter must also prove that they can handle the pressure of the most emotionally charged fixtures with composure and character.
If they can secure maximum points in the preceding matches, the Nerazzurri will enter the derby with greater confidence and potentially in a stronger position in the standings. Inter have found derbies difficult at times in recent years. After that, they will face another tough challenge against Como, whose performances have been a pleasant surprise this season.
One of Chivu’s main priorities is squad management. A packed schedule across domestic and European competitions requires careful rotation and effective use of the available players. He is assessing different tactical and organisational approaches while considering how to maintain the team’s intensity throughout this demanding period. Players who could be given more opportunities include Yann Bisseck, who is ready to contribute defensively, and Davide Frattesi, whose energy and forward runs could add dynamism to the midfield.
The return of several key players to their best form will also be crucial. Federico Dimarco, Piotr Zieliński and Henrikh Mkhitaryan all provide important quality and experience, while Nicolò Barella remains central to the balance of the team.
Alongside their Serie A ambitions, Inter must also maintain a strong focus on the Champions League. La Gazzetta dello Sport reports that Chivu is targeting significant results in Europe. The team want to strengthen their position in the Champions League league phase and move as close as possible to the top eight, with the first eight teams qualifying directly for the round of 16.
This is a particularly important objective, as direct qualification would allow Inter to avoid the knockout play-offs and ease the pressure of an already congested fixture schedule.
