Wales face a difficult test when Norway arrive in Cardiff. The Welsh have home advantage, but Norway have the attacking quality to make this a particularly challenging fixture for the hosts. Norway's biggest strength is their ability to threaten the opposition defence with direct attacking football. They have players capable of creating chances from open play, while their movement in the final third can cause problems when opponents leave space behind. Wales should not be underestimated, particularly on home soil. They are likely to compete strongly and should have periods where they put Norway under pressure. However, keeping Norway quiet for the full match will be a major task.

Wales will be looking to improve on their last outing here after a 2-0 Nations League defeat in their last game at the hands of Denmark. Wales have really been misfiring in recent times. Their goals record stands at just 4 vs opponents during their previous 6 fixtures. In those games, Wales have also seen the tally of goals scored against them come to 8. Such a pattern isn’t assured to be carried forward into this match, though. Norway Following on from being defeated in their last game at the hands of Portugal in Nations League action, Norway and their travelling supporters will be hoping that they can get a better result in this one. In as many as 5 of the previous 6 clashes involving Norway, a minimum of three goals have been struck. The overall average number of goals per match within that time is 3.33, with the average number of goals for Norway standing at 1.5.

From what I have observed of Wales' recent displays, the side boasts impressively smooth transition between offensive and defensive phases. Their midfield unit covers huge areas of the pitch, posting an outstanding ball-winning rate. Immediately after regaining possession, they can launch quick, well-organized advances, with set piece actions on both ends serving as a consistent, reliable scoring source. They have averaged roughly 10 goal attempts per match lately, and prefer to build up play patiently via layered, progressive passing. Their high pressing execution, however, drops noticeably when players' fitness fades late in games, leaving vulnerable space behind their two full-backs that can be easily exploited by opponents. Against sides with neat, intricate passing movements, they need to better control their in-possession rhythm to avoid careless turnovers that concede counterattack chances. The midfield's grip on game tempo will largely decide how smooth and efficient their atta

The Welsh side has been trapped in a prolonged slump across recent fixtures, while Norway’s form has gone through noticeable shifts over the same stretch. Even though Wales hold a clear nominal strength advantage, their past head-to-head clashes have almost always played out as evenly matched 50-50 contests. Wales have put in solid showings of late, with reliable goal threat on their home turf, and the hosts have kept a relatively steady run of form in recent outings. The visiting Norway, by contrast, actually have the edge in overall squad quality, but their recent performances have been wildly inconsistent, with far too many underwhelming displays. It remains to be seen which side can tap into their full true potential and claim the full three points from this fixture.

    • Ashdod come into this fixture with a strong home advantage and have been particularly impressive in their recent home performances. Their ability to create chances and control matches on their own ground makes them a difficult opponent for Maccabi Herzliya. Maccabi Herzliya have had a more inconsistent start to the campaign. Their recent results include a defeat to Kiryat Yam, draws against Bnei Yehuda and Maccabi Kiryat Gat, and a home defeat against Hapoel Kfar Saba.

    • Guinea begin this Africa Cup of Nations qualification fixture against Kenya with an opportunity to put three valuable points on the board. Playing at home should give Guinea an important advantage, particularly as they seek to control the game from midfield. The Guineans have the individual quality to cause Kenya problems, particularly when they are able to move the ball into the final third. Their approach is likely to be patient, with Guinea seeking to break down Kenya rather than constantly forcing the game.

    • Malta have an excellent opportunity to collect three points when Gibraltar visit Ta'Qali. The hosts should enter the game with greater confidence and are expected to take the initiative from the beginning. Malta should have more of the ball and are likely to spend much of the match in Gibraltar's half. Their attacking players should have opportunities to test a Gibraltar defence that could be placed under considerable pressure. Gibraltar will probably try to keep the game compact and frustrate Malta for as long as possible.
