Barcelona will look to maintain their outstanding beginning to the 2026-27 season when they visit Sevilla on Saturday evening. Hansi Flick’s side sit at the top of La Liga with 18 points from six matches, three points clear of second-placed Real Madrid, after winning every league game so far. Their latest performance underlined their attacking strength as they defeated Racing de Santander 7-2, while their European campaign also began impressively with a 5-1 victory over Feyenoord. Barcelona have scored 28 goals in six La Liga matches and 33 across seven games in all competitions, with Lamine Yamal and Raphinha playing major roles. Yamal has registered eight goals and four assists in seven appearances, while Raphinha has produced 11 goals and three assists during the same period. Sevilla will provide a serious test, however, as Luis Garcia Plaza’s team have also made a strong start and currently occupy fourth place with 13 points. Their record stands at four wins, one draw and one defeat, with seven points collected from their last three league matches after a draw against Espanyol and victories over Valencia and Deportivo La Coruna. Sevilla have not finished among Spain’s top four since 2021-22, but their recent form has raised expectations of a potential challenge for Champions League qualification. The hosts also have positive memories from last season, when they defeated Barcelona 4-1 in the corresponding fixture, although the Catalan side responded in the return meeting by winning 5-2 in March. Sevilla’s attacking options will again include Miguel Sierra, their leading scorer this season with two goals, while Isaac Romero could replace Lucas Stassin in the final third.
