Nottingham Forest have reached an agreement to sign Chelsea forward Liam Delap in a deal that could reach £50 million. The transfer is expected to cost an initial £45 million, with a further £5 million available through performance-related add-ons.

The 23-year-old striker is set to leave Chelsea after struggling to establish himself since arriving from Ipswich Town in 2025. His situation became increasingly uncertain after he was omitted from Xabi Alonso’s squad for Chelsea’s Premier League victory over Fulham on Monday.

Forest had identified Delap as their preferred attacking target, making his potential arrival a major addition to Oliver Glasner’s squad. The club have been looking to strengthen their attacking options before the summer transfer window closes, and Delap has emerged as their priority choice.

Delap joined Chelsea for £30 million last summer but endured a difficult first season at Stamford Bridge. He managed only one Premier League goal in 28 appearances, although he also found the net in the Champions League. A move to Nottingham Forest could now give him the opportunity to rebuild his confidence and rediscover the form he showed during his time at Ipswich.
