The Professional Footballers’ Association (PFA) has officially announced that Manchester United midfielder Bruno Fernandes has been named the PFA Players’ Player of the Year for the 2025-26 season. The award is voted for by registered players across the Premier League.

Last season, Fernandes recorded 9 goals and 21 assists in the Premier League, directly contributing to 30 goals. He ranked among the league’s leading midfielders in several key attacking and creative metrics, including chance creation and key passes. As Manchester United’s main attacking catalyst, he was a key figure in helping the club finish third in the Premier League and return to the league’s top tier.

Fernandes saw off strong competition from the likes of Declan Rice, Erling Haaland and Rayan Cherki to win the award. He becomes the **first Manchester United player in 16 years** to receive the honour, with the club’s previous winner being Wayne Rooney in the 2009-10 season.

Fernandes is also only the second Portuguese player, after Cristiano Ronaldo, to win the PFA Players’ Player of the Year award.
