Davide Frattesi has officially joined Lazio from Inter on a season-long loan, marking an emotional return to the club where his football journey began. The Rome-born midfielder completed his medical examinations before finalising the move, with Lazio securing an option to sign him permanently at the end of the season. The transfer gives Frattesi an opportunity to play a more prominent role after struggling to establish himself as a regular starter at Inter.

The deal underwent significant changes after Lazio’s financial limitations prevented the original agreement from going ahead. The initial structure involved a €1 million loan fee and a mandatory purchase clause worth €14 million at the end of the campaign, along with a 50 percent share of future profits for Inter. Following further negotiations between the two clubs, the arrangement was revised to a €5 million loan fee without an obligation to buy, while Lazio received a €10 million purchase option.

The new agreement represents a considerably lower potential permanent fee than the €30 million valuation previously associated with Frattesi. Inter have nevertheless protected their financial interests by retaining a clause that entitles them to 50 percent of Lazio’s future profit from a subsequent sale, with the calculation applying to earnings above €15 million. The structure provides Lazio with greater flexibility while allowing Inter to benefit if the midfielder’s market value rises again.

Frattesi’s return to Lazio carries additional significance because the club was his first academy home before he moved across the capital to Roma. He later developed into a highly regarded midfielder at Sassuolo, convincing Inter to invest €32 million in his signing in 2023. Although he never became a consistent starter in Milan, Frattesi produced several memorable moments, including a decisive extra-time goal in Inter’s Champions League final against Barcelona in May 2025. His move to Lazio now offers him a fresh opportunity to rebuild his momentum and play a central role at the club where his journey began.
