Paul Pogba could be heading toward a new chapter in Major League Soccer as his future with AS Monaco becomes increasingly uncertain. The 33-year-old midfielder has endured a difficult period since returning from his doping suspension, and an exit from the Ligue 1 club could open the door to a move to the United States. His reputation, international experience, and ability to operate in several midfield roles continue to make him an attractive option despite his recent struggles.

D.C. United remain an important factor because the club held Pogba’s MLS Discovery Rights in 2025, with no clear indication that those rights have since been transferred. Any MLS team interested in signing him would therefore need to consider the league’s regulations, including player allocation rules and the structure required for a high-profile contract. The situation makes Pogba’s potential move more complicated than a straightforward free-agent signing.

Several clubs could nevertheless find reasons to pursue the Frenchman. Inter Miami offer an appealing destination because of their profile and ambitions, although their Designated Player structure leaves limited room. Colorado Rapids have greater midfield needs and additional financial flexibility following the sale of Lucas Herrington, while New York City FC could view Pogba as a major-name addition ahead of the opening of Etihad Park in 2027. CF Montreal could also benefit from his technical quality and popularity within the French-speaking market, while Sporting Kansas City have the financial capacity and available Designated Player space to explore an ambitious deal.

LAFC may provide the most compelling footballing opportunity. With Hugo Lloris, Son Heung-min, and Denis Bouanga already giving the squad considerable star power, the club could use Pogba to add creativity and experience in midfield following the end of Stephen Eustaquio’s loan spell. LAFC could also adjust its Designated Player structure to accommodate him. While there are significant financial and regulatory hurdles to overcome, Pogba’s profile means the MLS remains a realistic destination if he decides to leave Monaco.
